TAAF Information and Swim Party July 10th:
TAAF Information and Swim Party July 10th:
Good Morning everyone!
We had a fantastic meet this past weekend. There were tons of best times by everyone, two high point trophies and a relay that placed at Ponderosa. I wanted to give you an update on the next few week leading into the TAAF regional meet at the Bryan Aquatic Center (BAC) and the TAAF state meet in Brownsville. That includes the Bryan Barracuda end of the season pool party on July 10th.
First off. TAAF practices started yesterday and will continue through the 27th of July. Even if you are not planning to swim the regional or the state meet you can still practice with us through the end of July. To sign up for TAAF practice, just go to the entrance of the BAC and ask to sign up for the TAAF summer swimming. The registration is not online, so you need to sign up at the pool. Morning practice is at 8:00-9:30 and there is an evening practice from 6:45-8:00 for those who can’t make the morning.
You may have noticed a couple older swimmers including parents swimming. If you are an adult and want to get some coaching in this month, you can sign up to swim TAAF as well. If you are going to swim TAAF, but don’t want any coaching critique you can just pay for lap swim and not the TAAF practice fee.
Secondly, we are going to need to know if you plan to attend the TAAF regional meet on July 8th at the BAC. We are opening up the sign up on swimtopia for the swimmers. If you are an adult that was planning to swim, we need an email from you letting us know what you want to swim. While the events are similar to our NWAL season there are a couple of changes. There is an additional event of the 200 freestyle, there are also a couple additional relays. Also, there is a difference in the number of events the swimmers can swim.
- 10 – Under: 3 Total, including Relays (must place in top 3 to advance to state)
- 11-14: 4 Total, including relays (must place in top 3 to advance to state)
- 15-17: 4 Individuals and 3 relays (do not have to qualify for state)
- 18-Up: anything they want. (Do not have to qualify for state)
When you sign up please leave in the comments what events you’d like them to swim and whether they would like to swim a relay if available. The TAAF regional meet is like our invitationals there is a small fee per event ($7.00)
You do not have to swim state if you want to swim Regionals. But you will need to notify us that you are scratching from state on the day of regionals. We need that so we can move other swimmers up. State is July 27th-30th in Brownsville Texas.
So, to wrap up a long email…
- TAAF practice has begun and you can pay at the pool.
- Meet registration for the TAAF regional (at our pool) is Friday, June 30th at 11:00 PM. Please let us know what you’d like to swim when you register (or by email)
- Barracuda pool party is July 10th (evening). More information to follow.
