NWAL summer League end of season and TAAF swim information

With the NWAL summer league swimming season wrapping down, I wanted to give you some more information on swimming TAAF and other events coming down the road. Including some really fun opportunities.

We are going to have an end of the season party for all of the Bryan Barracuda swimmers and parents in July. We want to recognize you and your swimmers for all of your hard work. The tentative date for the swim party will be July 28th in the evening, we will send out more information as the party gets nearer.

Friday morning will be the last practice for the NWAL season. On behalf of all of the Coaching staff, I want to thank all of the swimmers who swam and their parents for participating in this one of a kind season. We wouldn’t have been able to have a season without you and your swimmer’s hard work.

After the invitationals this weekend, we are going to take a week off to kind of reset before we begin our TAAF summer swim season. TAAF is a competition that has all cities throughout the state compete in a variety of athletic events. For swimming, this involves a regional swim meet on July 17th at Bryan and then a State meet (TAAF Games of Texas), July 29th – August 1st in Corpus Christi. We will begin our TAAF season swim practice July 5th and will continue through July 28th.

If you wish to swim in the TAAF swim season, you do not have to compete in the regional or state meet. If you wish to swim in the regional meet but are not interested in swimming the State meet, you are welcome to do that as well. If you just wish to keep practicing, you are welcome to join us. There is a separate registration for the TAAF practices; it will be on the Bryan Rec recreation site shortly.

Now, here is some of the fun opportunities. TAAF swimming is for all age groups; from tiny tots to 95 year olds. That means adults can sign up to swim as well. We have had numerous parents compete in the regional and state meet in the past, including the coaches. You are welcome to sign up as well and try it out. If you register, we will provide coaching too! Parents of all levels have swam before and had a lot of fun, so if you’re interested, I need a little information ahead of time.

If you are ages 19+ and are interested in swimming in TAAF (regional or state meet) the city of Bryan needs to know by Monday June 28th. If you can send a reply email to myself or Jennifer telling me you are interested we can get you on the official city athlete roster (doesn’t that sound cool?). You swimmers are automatically included on the roster if they swam on the Barracudas season, but the city needs to have your information if you wish to be included for TAAF.
