I wanted to give the new families and old families a bit of information for the swim meet this weekend at the Huntsville lakers.

The Huntsville meet will be at the Frank D. "Poncho" Roberts Aquatics Center. It is in Eastham Thomason Park. The address is, 912 Avenue N, Huntsville, TX 77320.

The pool has limited seating and I am not sure what the seating rules will be on the deck. We have, in the past, set up outside their pool in the park area and then the swimmers went to the pool deck when their event was called. Parents would come in to the bleachers to watch the swims. The bleachers are not huge, but should be big enough to seat parents during their swimmer’s events.

What I would recommend to bring for the meet is the following:

• Chairs
• Water and snacks (there is not going to be a concession area)
• Sunscreen (very important)

For the swimmers:

• Suit (you would not believe how many times this is forgotten)
• Goggles
• Cap (if wanted)
• Towel
• Sunscreen (see above)

Optional items:

Some parents bring awnings and shelters, you can set those up in the park area.

I would imagine all of this area is going to be wet, so you might want to bring a tarp to put down. In addition, rain in East Texas brings mosquitos. Bring some Mosquito spray just in case.

Our warm-up is second, so we need to be ready for warm-up at 7:30 AM. You should be able to look in swimtopia to see your swimmers’ events. Come find Coach Jennifer to check-in when you get there. We normally eat at McKenzie's Bar B Que after the meet and you are welcome to attend.

If the weather causes us to delay the meet, we will try to inform everybody through swimtopia email and on facebook.
