At Seasons Close, A Thank You

I want to thank everyone who participated this summer in NWAL, TAAF or both summer league seasons. While the summer was long, I was pleased to see everyone work so hard. We wrapped up the TAAF season with the State Games of Texas this past weekend and now it is time to take a little break. Soon summer will be winding down and everyone will be heading back to school. Before we do, I wanted to give you a little information and some tips for staying in shape in the break.

Fist off, we have had some questions about whether we will have anything go on in the fall as far as swimming goes and I would like to answer that with a resounding, yes. Like last year we will be having a fall swim program for those interested in swimming for fun or in Winter TAAF. This is for age group swimmers as well as adults. The program will start back in September and will be on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. We will lock down on the time later.

Secondly, we had those who were wondering if there were even more opportunities for competing in the off season and we are currently working looking at a number of options for those people. Although we aren't ready yet to provide any details, I wanted you to know that it is coming in the next few weeks.

Thirdly, we had some swimmers and parents who were interested in what they could do to help stay in shape in the off season and throughout the year. Even when you are away from the pool, you can still work towards being a stronger faster swimmer. I've included some dryland exercises that help develop strength and endurance in swimmers.

Now, you don't want to do every single one of these every day. There are a number of exercises that you can mix and match together for your workout. I have also included some workouts you can use as kind of a template. I would suggest doing this at least three times a week and it would be even better five times a week. You can also combine this with running to help develop your cardio.

From all of the coaches, I want to thank you again for all of your hard work and dedication and hope to see you again in the future.
